THE Singapore courts have granted disposal orders in respect of funds unlawfully misappropriated from 1MDB and one of its former subsidiaries – SRC International Sdn Bhd.

The monies recovered are in various currencies totalling some S$15.3 million (RM45.9 million) and are being transferred to the special 1Malaysia Development Bhd recovery bank account in Kuala Lumpur.

The announcement was made today by Tan, Rajah & Cheah, a Singapore law firm hired by Putrajaya as its solicitor to institute legal action against 53 individuals and companies to reclaim 1MDB’s funds.

“Efforts to recover other unlawfully misappropriated assets are ongoing,” the law firm said in a statement.

Attorney-General Tommy Thomas approved the appointment of the firm in July, Bernama reported, citing an unnamed source.

The source said the Malaysian government will file an application at the high court in Singapore against the 53 defendants for orders to recover the monies.

On May 31, the 1MDB special task force said Singapore and Malaysia agreed to collaborate to bring back the monies, believed to have been embezzled from the state investor. – September 10, 2018.

  • For Najib to deny knowledge of the siphoned off 1MDB money, was it done behind his back by hitherto unknown person(s)? Will the trial eventually be able to reveal this missing link? We must wait and see the evidence, if any..

  • Durian diplomacy aside, is UMNO going to flight the Singapore court order and maintain there is no 1MDB wrong doings?
