PAS hints at Pakatan's 'dirty' campaign in Seri Setia

PAS candidate Dr Halimah Ali today accused her rival for the Seri Setia seat, Halimey Abu Bakar, of not running a “clean” campaign, but refrained from giving detailed examples.

She said goodies were seen being handed out to voters under some programmes during the Pakatan Harapan candidate’s campaign.

“We are talking about the ‘reformasi’ of the government and elections, so should you use government machinery to campaign for the by-election?” she said at the sidelines of the Unity in Diversity lunch in Ampang today.

Dr Halimah said she did not have money to spend on her campaign, nor was she given funds to buy goodies for the people.

“I don’t get money to give out things like that. Even the tents and flags are all from PAS.”

She said this clearly showed the need for another opposition voice in the Selangor legislative assembly, to provide checks and balances.

On her debate with Halimey on Astro Awani, Dr Halimah said she was asked to participate after an invitation was sent to the PH candidate.

However, Bernama reported that Halimey denied having received an invitation.

“How can I agree to attend when there was no invitation given to me? There was no invitation,” he was quoted as saying.

“About him (Halimey) saying he did not get an invitation, I don’t know,” said Dr Halimah.

“Astro Awani has got the answer. I was told it invited both parties. Why would Astro Awani lie?”

The Seri Setia by-election is scheduled for September 8. – September 1, 2018.
