THE cabinet will next month discuss the proposal for a RM100 travel pass for commuters, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He said it was up to the government to decide whether to implement the scheme.

“The travel pass will have an impact on the government’s revenue.

“However, I will table the proposal before the cabinet, and hope it is approved.

“This is an important initiative, as it is part of Pakatan Harapan’s election manifesto. We want to implement it as soon as we can, but we have to consider the government’s ability to do so,” he said after attending a ministry gathering in Putrajaya this morning.

The travel pass would allow commuters to have unlimited use of all public transport services for just RM100 a month.

Loke said if the government gave the green light, the scheme could be rolled out in a month.

He previously said the scheme could be implemented early next year. – August 30, 2018.
