THE Registar of Societies (RoS) today accepted Pakatan Harapan’s registration with one condition: that the opposition alliance changes its logo.

PH and Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said RoS had no issues with the coalition’s constitution, but wanted changes to the logo, which is the word “Harapan” with a stylised “A” in the shape of an arrowhead.

“We have submitted our application online. But today, we are here to present RoS with a hard copy of the application.

“They have no issues except for the logo. They said it can’t be only a word, and must have the full name of ‘Pakatan Harapan’ in the logo,” he told reporters outside the RoS office in Putrajaya.

Dr Mahathir said the coalition had taken RoS’ advice and would make a new logo, to be presented in two days.

“We have taken into account the guidelines they have given us on the logo.

“We want to comply not only with the legal aspect, but all aspects, so that when we submit our new logo, we will get approval from RoS.”

He said PH already had an idea on what the new logo was going to be.

“We will have to study the suggestions by the professionals artists who are designing the logo.”

He added that RoS officers had said they would have to study PH’s application before making any decisions.

“We have told RoS that we need the registration to be approved quickly because we have to prepare for the general election.

“If the logo is not approved (in time), it will be difficult to make posters, flags, T-shirts and other items.

“So, we hope RoS takes this into consideration and approves our logo as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said the “Sayangi Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptokrasi” (Love Malaysia, Destroy Kleptocracy) rally on October 14 at Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya had been announced by PH.

“We will talk about 1Malaysia Development Berhad and other issues. We are still in the process of getting a permit.” – July 28, 2017.

  • What a stupid excuse the RoS came up with. There were no dispute on company logo that I can think of that the RoS objected to in all tgevyeard

  • It makes sense to have the wording in full as "Harapan" is a generic name. For example, BN cannot have a logo that just say "Nasional" as the word is generic and used by others.

  • RoS with its newly-minted plonker at the helm is dead set to become the 1-mega obstructionist moron. His surreptitious propensity in taking partisan stand on purely routine/administrative matters could not escape any discerning eye in the main street. Heaps of organisations/entities' logos come in simple
diagrammatic forms like Pepsi or Apple or single word such as Amazon. So the HARAPAN submission is 100% fine by all sundries. But it just ain't good enough for #RazinObstructionistMoron who's obviously bent on indulging himself in hair-splitting or nit picking to his heart's content.
