MANY parliamentarians are willing to give up their seats for me, although the timing is not quite right, Anwar Ibrahim said today.

The incoming PKR president said he had not yet made up his mind on which parliamentary constituency he would run in.

“Since coming back from Turkey, a lot of MPs have met me. There have been a lot of people who wanted to offer me seats but I feel it is not the right time yet,” Anwar said at a press conference in Petaling Jaya.

The former deputy prime minister also said that, before making any announcements, he would hold discussions with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad first.

“I have discussed with Dr Mahathir last week and once I have decided, I will inform him first. Then only will I tell everyone else,” Anwar added.

Several lawmakers had stated they were willing to give up their seats for Anwar, including Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul and Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen.

Rumours had also surfaced of Batu MP M. Prabakaran giving up his seat for Anwar as well as PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, who would give up his Lembah Pantai seat. – August 17, 2018.
