THE driver of a RapidKL bus that crashed into several vehicles last night will be discharged from Ampang Hospital today, said police.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zulkefly Yahya denied claims that the driver had died, saying he will leave the hospital at 3pm.
“We believe he suffered head injuries after allegedly being beaten up by members of the public who caught him.
“Police will investigate the matter if he lodges a report.”
He said there were no passengers on board the bus when the incident occurred.
In the incident, which happened about 8pm yesterday, seven vehicles were damaged.
The bus driver is believed to have been trying to escape the scene of an accident in front of the Risda building in Jalan Ampang.
A video clip of the incident has gone viral.
RapidKL today said owners of the vehicles hit by the bus can claim for damages.
Its chief operating officer, Shamsul Rizal Mohd Yusof, said the owners can contact the company at 03-7885-2585 to have their claims processed.
He said the bus driver has been with the company for two years, and previously had a good track record. β August 17, 2018.
