INCUMBENT PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has turned down an invite to debate with his contender Rafizi Ramli.

He said since it was an internal party election, he did not see the need for a public televised debate.

“I would like to thank for the Rafizi debate but I do not see the necessity because this is an internal party election.

“This is not a direct or presidential election where you want to get involvement of the people,” Azmin told reporters when met at Parliament today.

The Economic Affairs Minister once again denied there was any infighting among him and Rafizi.

“No, there is no internal fighting,” Azmin said.

He also said the PKR party elections had got nothing to do with a move being mooted to block party president Anwar Ibrahim from becoming prime minister.

“It is a party election it has nothing to do with the government,” Azmin.

The Gombak MP said there was a unwritten consensus among the Pakatan Harapan parties to make Anwar prime minister after Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Certainly there was a consensus, even among PH members not only in PKR. Even PH parties agree that Anwar will be next prime minister,” Azmin added.

  • It is interesting to note that Anwar and wife are not restraining Rafizi and team from making slanderous, embarrassing and outrageous remarks about Azmin, his supporters and even other PH leaders. It would seem that this inelegant silence belie their desire to see Azmin and his supporters ousted from PKR decision making and eliminate them in favour of those who will only either worship or unquestioningly follow Anwar.

    • Its only miscalculation by Anwer and his wife not restraining Rafizi. Azmin has big door to welcome him if PKR eliminate him.

  • True! Anwar n Wan Azizah is not seen to be restraining Rafizi's onslaught. It is condonation. It is not healthy for PKR & PH.

At the moment PKR is the party with the most parliment seats. If Azmin is made to exit, pkr has much to lose.

Why should Anwar not in favour of Azmin who has been with him from the very beginning? After all who is Anwar planning to succeed him? Certainly not Rafizi who is brash and at times arrogant
