THE Human Resource Ministry has suspended Bestinet Sdn Bhd’s operation, following reports of it exploiting Nepalese workers.

Minister M Kulasegaran said Putrajaya was now talking to the Nepalese government and trying to resolve issues of worker recruitment from the country.

“The complaint is from Nepal. We are going to have a memorandum of understanding with them and resolve the issue. The MoU has already been approved by Nepal in principle.”

“Nepal is interested in sending its workers over, and we are also interested in hiring them,” he said at a press conference after a meeting regarding foreign worker management at Parliament today.

Bestinet, which was involved in a Nepalese worker scandal recently, has denied its involvement in money laundering and profiting from the immigration documentation process for foreign workers.

Since May 16, the Nepalese government has banned its citizens from working in Malaysia due to the high costs from immigration levy (RM105 per worker), medical checkups (RM100), and paperwork that involves a transit company managed by Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd. – August 14, 2018.

  • Please gazzette the foreign workers area of accommodation and hostels for easy monitoring and controlling. This will give a big relieve and ease for local residents , as at now we can see them all over the place even in local residents area which create a lot of problems such rubbish, social nuisance and other problems.

  • Sigh.....there goes my mahligai impian, a four-storey bungalow in an affluent part of Kl with about 20 rooms 25 baths swimming pools, shopping sprees in London. Expensive watches. Bags. Jewellery and whatnot. All at the expense of the poor Banglas. Karma is definitely a bitch.
