MALAYSIA is mulling raising the price of water sold to Singapore, said Dr Xavier Jayakumar.

The water, land and natural resources minister said the government is reviewing the Water Agreement 1962, as raw water is being sold at too low a price.

“There are efforts by the government to review the price of raw water sold to Singapore. The (current) price is low.

“The government will conduct an in-depth study on the issue, so that it has a positive impact on both countries,” he said in a written reply.

He was replying to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who, last Monday, asked about the profit Malaysia made from the water sale.
