BERSATU will be launching its Sarawak chapter soon, said party chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Dr Mahathir, who is also the prime minister, said there are already 30,000 members in the state and the party is going to make inroads there.
“Many people in Sarawak are interested in joining Bersatu. There is already 30,000 members and we will take efforts to launch the party in Sarawak,” Dr Mahathir told reporters in a press conference.
The Langkawi MP also said everyone in Sarawak was welcome to join Bersatu but not at the expense of being at loggerheads with the existing parties there.
“We can accept all applications to become Bersatu members but we just need to ensure there are no overlaps with the Sarawak leadership,” Dr Mahathir said.
Last week, it was reported that there was a purported launch of Bersatu Sarawak, which party officials later denied. – August 11, 2018.
