PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad wants youth in Malaysia to get rid of their bad habits and become future leaders of tomorrow.

The 93-year-old said that during his recent visit to Japan, the Japanese chose him as a role model for their children for them to emulate his ethics.

“The Japanese believe in bringing up their children to follow certain ethics. I was chosen to promote Japanese ethics to the Japanese,” he said.

However, Dr Mahathir hoped that Malaysians, especially the youth, would emulate a “proper value system”.

“What we see here today is the youth that do not want to work or to study. They are more interested in being mat rempits and doing things that are not beneficial,” he told reporters in a press conference today.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said among the ways to address this issue was to revamp the education system.

“We have to tackle this problem in the education system. There is a need for us to create leaders of tomorrow. We may have to train a lot of people to become leaders of our country,” Dr Mahathir added. – August 11, 2018.
