ECONOMIC Affairs Minister Azmin Ali denied meeting officials of Singapore’s Transport Ministry to discuss the fate of the High-Speed Rail (HSR).

He said he met with a “Singaporean” while he was in Johor to visit Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. 

“They (Singapore media) are right. When I mentioned it yesterday, did I say I met officials from MOT?” Azmin told reporters at Parliament, today. 

Singaporean news outlet Today Online reported that a spokesman from Singapore’s MOT said no meeting was scheduled nor had one taken place between Azmin and Singapore officials overseeing the HSR project.

However, Azmin yesterday told reporters that he had met informally with several officials and that the meeting had gone well. 

The PKR deputy president said a date had been fixed for him to soon meet with the Singapore officials to discuss the project.

“I will come up with another proposal some time this month and we will firm up the details,” Azmin said. – August 7, 2018.
