BARISAN Nasional MP Bung Moktar Radin has retracted his “F*** you” remark made in the Dewan Rakyat, after being ordered to do so by Deputy Speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon.
Rashid, who cited the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Orders 36 (4) and (9) in issuing the order, warned the lawmaker from using the word again.
“Based on 36 (4), the four-letter word uttered by Kinabatangan must be retracted. Kinabatangan, please retract the word,” he said today.
Standing Order 36 (4) states that it is out of order for members of the House to use offensive language or make sexist remarks, while Standing Order 36 (9) states that no reference shall be made in any debate to the conduct or character of any MP or public servant, other than conduct in the capacity of the MP or public servant, as the case may be.
Bung Moktar then retracted his remark, saying it was not his intention to utter the word against anyone.
“I retract the remark because it was impolite, but it was a bad attempt by Puncak Borneo,” he said, adding that he has seen Willie Mongin (PH-Puncak Borneo) out drinking with a prostitute.
This led to another shouting match in the Dewan Rakyat, with Pakatan Harapan MPs urging the speaker to take stricter action against the lawmaker.
Wong Kah Woh (PH-Ipoh Timur) cited Standing Order 44, to eject Bung Moktar from the sitting.
Rashid said he will use the provision if Bung Moktar repeats the mistake.
The MP earlier said “F*** you” to Mongin after the latter interjected during the debate on the Sales Tax Bill 2018 and Service Tax Bill 2018. – August 7, 2018.
