THERE was pandemonium in Parliament today after a Barisan Nasional MP uttered a four-letter word at the tail end of the morning sitting.

Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) said “F*** you” to Willie Mongin (PH-Puncak Borneo) after the latter interjected during the debate on the Sales Tax Bill 2018 and Service Tax Bill 2018.

Bung earlier said prices of goods were lower during the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) based on his visit to the Selayang wholesale market.

Mongin then interrupted, saying he might have gone to a casino instead.

“What is this? This is rude, retract this. You shouldn’t be here, samseng, what do you want, you want to fight with me.

“F*** you. You messed up with the wrong people,” Bung shouted at Mongin in the chamber.

Several Pakatan Harapan lawmakers called for a retraction of the remark.

Chang Lih Kang (PH-Tanjung Malim) said Bung Moktar should be ejected from Dewan Rakyat while Wong Kah Woh (PH-Ipoh Timur) said action must be taken against Bung Moktar for uttering a profanity in the chamber.

Deputy speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon reprimanded Bung Moktar, saying he should follow the Standing Orders of the Dewan Rakyat.

Ronald Kiandee (BN-Beluran), meanwhile, called for a ruling on the matter based on Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Order 36 (9).

The provision states that no reference shall be made in any debate to the conduct or character of any MP or of any public servant, other than conduct in the capacity of MP or public servant, as the case may be.

Bung, however, stood firm and did not retract his words and even alleged Mongin had hired a prostitute.

“He started it first, he has no manners,” Bung Moktar said.

As it was at the tail end of the meeting, deputy speaker Rashid adjourned the meeting.

But as he left the chamber, PH members demanded that a ruling be made after the meeting resumed after lunch. – August 7, 2018.
