DEPUTY Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail denied that the voice on several audio clips making their rounds on social media, slamming Mohamed Azmin Ali and Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was her husband’s.
“It’s not him. I’ve asked him,” she said, referring to Anwar Ibrahim.
When asked about it, Azmin said he was unaware of the matter as he had not heard of the audio clips.
Three audio clips, carrying a voice resembling Anwar, have been making its rounds on social media today.
In one of the clips, the individual was heard criticising Prime Minister Dr Mahathir on his appointment as Khazanah chairman.
In another clip, the person said that he had asked Rafizi Ramli to contest against Azmin for the PKR deputy president’s post as the latter had become a stooge (barua) of Dr Mahathir.
In the final clip, the same person said Dr Mahathir had accused him of sodomy and mentioned of the RM30 billion losses that took place in the Forex scandal during the prime minister’s first tenure.
In another development, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil slammed the fake audio clips, saying that they were meant to cause trouble in the run-up to the party polls.
“I have listened to these audio clips and found that some words were pronounced very differently from Anwar’s style of pronunciation.
“As such, these audio clips are fake and meant to divide and create doubts among party members,” he said in a statement.
He warned that more such fake material would be made viral in the coming weeks and urged party members to check with the party on the veracity of such material. – August 2, 2018.
