PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied that the party is torn between two camps – one backing de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and the other supporting him.
The economic affairs minister, who is rumoured to have a close relationship with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, urged all parties to ignore the stories circulating on the supposed rift.
“Don’t believe all these stories. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has repeatedly said he is fully supportive of Dr Mahathir’s leadership as prime minister.
“PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has released a statement calling all PKR members to support the leadership of Dr Mahathir to lead the new Pakatan Harapan government,” Azmin told reporters at the lobby of parliament today.
He was responding to a report in a local news site today quoting a party source as claiming there are concerns in PKR surrounding Azmin’s perceived growing loyalty to Dr Mahathir. – August 2, 2018.
