OPPOSITION Leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is being considered for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chair, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Liew Vui Keong.
The minister in charge of parliamentary affairs said Zahid was the sole name proposed by the government, which had pledged in its manifesto to appoint a member of the opposition to be the PAC chairman.
“This is one of the promises of PH. But it is up to him if he will accept the post,” Liew told reporters at the Parliament lobby, today.
PH has promised the PAC would be headed by the opposition to prevent bias.
Yesterday, Dewan Rakyat deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming had suggested that Zahid be PAC chairman.
Allegations of lack of transparency and partiality had surrounded the former PAC chairman, Hasan Ariffin, appointed by Barisan Nasional, especially in matters related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd. – July 25, 2018.
