NAJIB Razak has denied that the RM470 million transferred to his personal bank account was from state-owned 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

“It is not 1MDB funds because as far as I know, when we issued the cheque, we were very clear that it didn’t come from 1MDB,” the disgraced former prime minister said at the Parliament lobby today.

Najib, however, declined to name the source of the funds as the case was under investigation.

“That is subject to the investigation (so I) cannot say 1MDB funds. So, the source of funds must be established very clearly.  Let the investigations run their course as we don’t want to pre-empt whatever the findings are.”

Last week, veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang said former Barisan Nasional component parties that had received money from Najib prior to GE14 had to return any and all the funds if they had come from the debt-laden 1MDB.

Lim was referring to funds disbursed from Najib’s personal account to BN, Umno, MCA, Gerakan, SUPP and other former BN coalition partners from April 2012 to August 2013.

In its latest micro site on 1MDB, Malaysiakini revealed that Umno received the largest portion of the funds – RM417.4 million (88.8%) – followed by MIC (RM20.55 million) and MCA (RM16.5 million).

The news site also reported that East Malaysian parties, such as LDP, Upko and PBRS, as well as PPP and IPF, also received funds from Najib’s account. – July 23, 2018.

  • Jibby is giving a run around statement if indeed he has nothing to hide he would have declared everything in the open when 1MDB first surface then. Msian which is a forgetful and forgiving lot would have past the matter to an honourable fellow in acknowledging his mistake but instead you suppressed the matter by dismantling the on going investigations. Why??

  • As he says, don't pre-empt the ongoing 1MDB investigation because the probe may prove the truth of what he is saying?..
