BERSATU has taken action against members who attempted to sabotage the party during the 14th general election, said chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Dr Mahathir, who is also prime minister, said disciplinary action has been taken against those involved, although not all were sacked.
“I cannot mention the names of those involved or how many there were.
“It was the people who gave press conferences. Some were suspended, we did not sack them,” he said after chairing the Bersatu supreme council meeting in Petaling Jaya today.
It was reported in February that Bersatu information chief Kamaruddin Md Noor said three members had been sacked for going against the party.
He said the party’s disciplinary board chief, Sanusi Junid, had identified the members, who tried to sabotage the party by holding a press conference and lodging a report with the Registrar of Societies.
He said they had joined Bersatu with bad intentions.
He said action would be taken against any member found to be working against the interests of the party.
Dr Mahathir told reporters today that “Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia” will now use “Bersatu” as the official slogan and logo.
“We couldn’t use it before, as there was protest from the authorities. But now, we can.” – July 20, 2018.
