BE an “honest” opposition is DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang’s advice to Barisan Nasional.

The Iskandar Puteri MP, who had been in the opposition since 1969, said BN should not play up racial issues backed by false claims.

Instead, he said, the opposition pact should be constructive, to ensure better democracy in Malaysia.

“Do not go for the politics of race, religion, lies and fear. Speak the truth. Be a constructive, effective and honest opposition,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today after the Agong’s royal address.

Lim said it is surreal to be seated on the government side of the august House after being in the opposition for close to five decades.

“It is very unreal, and in a way, a bit uncomfortable. It is strange, but we will get used to it,” he said with a smile.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, in his royal address, said the nation’s politics should move away from race and religion. – July 17, 2018.
