KHAIRY Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau) said he, unlike Annuar Musa, will not publicly discuss matters pertaining to Umno.

“I’m not going to discuss party matters out in the public. He (Annuar) can choose to do so, but I’m not going to do that,” the former Umno Youth chief told reporters at the Parliament lobby after the Agong’s speech today.

Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Annuar warned Khairy against going overboard in his statements, which have been critical of the party following its 14th general election defeat.

Annuar said Khairy was included in the Umno leadership line-up, but the former youth and sports minister turned down the offer. His only post now is as Rembau lawmaker.

Umno unveiled its Supreme Council line-up last week.

When asked about rumours that he would leave Umno, Khairy denied them, adding that he is loyal to the party.

Yesterday, Khairy was in the spotlight after he stayed put when his opposition colleagues walked out of the Dewan Rakyat as a sign of protest against the speaker’s appointment.

He said he did not wish to tarnish Barisan Nasional’s image.

Former Umno president Najib Razak rebuked him, adding that it was up to the party leadership to question Khairy and two other BN leaders who did not walk out – Anifah Aman and Rozman Isli. – July 17, 2018.

  • Looks like Khairy is going to lead by example and show his vision of a New UMNO leader. We will see how many follow him. Hes doing the right thing but I think the party is doomed as it shows no sign of willingness to reform itself.
