BARISAN Nasional representatives on the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) advisory board have quit their posts after receiving their formal letters.
The seven BN representatives stepped down yesterday after a meeting with DBKL Mayor Md Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz.
MCA’s Ng How Doo said the letter had requested those who are in the federal territories statutory body such as advisory boards or political appointees to voluntarily step down from their posts.
“The request came through the proper channel so we agreed to withdraw our positions,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
The BN board members were appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the recommendation of former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, for a term of two years, beginning 2017.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad previously said all BN representatives on the DBKL advisory board are required to relinquish their positions immediately.
The BN members, who are political appointees, will be replaced by Kuala Lumpur MPs.
Ng also said that the mayor had welcomed the former members to give their feedback on issues in the city.
“We will assist DBKL if we have any feedback or suggestions to help the community.”
MIC S.Rajah was the first BN board member to tender his resignation to Amin on May 5.
The others board members who resigned were Ng, Ahmad Faisal Abdul Karim (Umno), Rizalman Mokhtar (Umno), Mustapa Kamal Mohd Yusoff (Umno), Zainal Abidin Mohd Rafique (Umno), A. Samalah (MyPPP) and Wilson Lau Hoi Keong (Gerakan). – July 13, 2018.
