THE KL Draft City Plan 2020 may be gazetted before the end of the year, said Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.

Khalid said he will be meeting with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) mayor Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz on Friday to discuss the issue.

“The plan will be gazetted soon and we will try to ensure that it will be kept to its original blueprint.

“There are areas which have been amended so we have to look into that,” he said after a meeting with Kuala Lumpur MPs in Putrajaya today.

Amin had said that DBKL will gazetted the plan by year-end.

He said DBKL needs another six months to complete the gazetting of the land plots within its jurisdiction.

Amin had said the gazetted plan will make DBKL’s job in managing the city’s development easier.

The first draft of the plan was unveiled in May 2008 and, after 10 years, DBKL is still amending the proposal based on feedback.

Khalid also said that they have to see what action can be taken.

“If the projects are ongoing we can’t stop it, such as the MRT, LRT and highways.

“We also have to check the implementation and see if there is any legal or financial implications.” – July 4, 2018.
