MORE heads are set to roll at government agencies including Tabung Haji and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), said Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali.
He said he would be meeting with the Tabung Haji board and expects some resignations.
“I would be meeting Tabung Haji next week to sort the mess out. I would be expecting several resignations,” Azmin told The Malaysian Insight when met at the Putrajaya Mosque after prayers today.
The PKR deputy president also said he had already met with Felda this week and stressed that the management should be responsible for the past problems that have plagued the agency.
“The management needs to be responsible. I told Felda that they need to make a change as soon as possible. They all were held responsible for the troubles in Felda,” he said.
Azmin’s remarks come as Putrajaya works on removing chief executives in government-linked companies and senior officers in the civil service known to be Barisan Nasional (BN) political appointees following the change of government after the May 9 polls.
The Malaysian Insight reported earlier this week that Putrajaya did not renew the contract of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) chief executive Mohd Badlisham Ghazali, which ends this month, while Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd chief executive Mohamad Salim Fateh Din will retire effective end-June.
Felda’s former chairman Shahrir Samad from Umno had resigned after the Barisan Nasional lost federal power in the 14th general election.
Among the problems with the land development agency are the debts owed by Felda settlers after handing over the management of their plantations to a Felda subsidiary.
Felda was also embroiled in a land scandal where prime land that it owned on Jalan Semarak was transferred to a developer without the agency receiving a sen.
Tabung Haji, meanwhile, had been involved in buying land at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) from 1Malaysia Development Berhad at a price far higher than what the scandal-ridden fund paid first paid for the land. – June 22, 2018
