PUTRAJAYA is giving imams, muezzins, mosque caretakers and kafa teachers RM400 aid for Hari Raya.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said this was the order by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to mark Hari Raya, which falls on Friday and Saturday.

“The prime minister has ordered for tok imam, tok bilal, tok siak and guru kafa to be given RM400 each as Hari Raya aid.

“It is the same as what federal civil servants will receive… so I have to go find the money,” he said before breaking fast with locals at Masjid Jamek Kubang Buaya in Butterworth in his parliamentary constituency of Bagan this evening.

Lim said he would be issuing a statement on the allocation tomorrow.

The former Penang chief minister spoke briefly to his constituents about his new job in Putrajaya, the RM1 trillion national debt, the fiscal measures introduced by the federal government, including the 10% pay cut for cabinet ministers.

“We have scrapped the goods and services tax without Malaysia becoming bankrupt. We are also still giving out BR1M, but under a different name – Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat.

“We have standardised the price of RON95… We thank the people for giving the government support on implementing these measures,” he said. – June 12, 2018.
