KTM trains will face a delay in travel time due to the construction work for the first phase of the Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) rehabilitation project.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said one of the two train tracks had to be closed for construction work to take place.
“This is a problem that KTMB is currently facing and we are trying our best to tackle the problem.
Loke said during peak hours, train frequency would be down to one in every 30 minutes instead of the usual 15 minutes.
For off peak hours, trains would be delayed to one in every hour instead of 30 minutes.
The first phase of the RM1.4 billion KVDT rehabilitation project is set for completion in November 2019.
Loke also urged users to study the new train schedule, which had been made public, as well as taking other alternatives such as LRT or MRT to avoid delay.
“Since the schedule was announced, 90% of KTMB train was recorded to be punctual.
“However if one train faces a delay, the other trains will be late as well,” he added.
The first phase of KVDT rehabilitation project began in the first quarter of 2016 and entails 42km of track between Rawang and Salak Selatan.
Its development was said to reduce point-to-point train travel time in half. β June 11, 2018.
