THREE 18-year-old teenagers suspected of being involved in the murder of T. Nhaveen in Penang had their remand extended for another four days today.
Their remand extension until Tuesday will assist investigations into another case involving extortion and rioting.
Yesterday, two other suspects connected to the Nhaveen murder case – school boys aged 16 and 17 – were remanded for a different case, believed to also have been bullying, reported last month. The duo’s remand ends on Monday.
On Thursday, shortly after Nhaveen was declared dead, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said the case would be investigated for murder.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar had said the post-mortem report showed that Nhaveen died of head injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
Nhaveen was assaulted on the night of June 9 at Island Glades by a group of boys who had used their fists and motorcycle helmets to attack him.
By the time he was sent to the hospital, he had lost consciousness. He remained in a coma until his death.
The five teenagers are expected to be charged with murder next week. – June 17, 2017.
