THE task force proposed by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to review the country’s curriculum will meet him to receive further briefing on the matter after the Hari Raya celebrations.
Education Minister Maszlee Malik said the task force will include professors and young educators.
“After Raya, this task force will meet with the prime minister to get further briefing and the group will be from different layers of educators,” he said at the Higher Education Ministry today.
He also said the review will be thorough, from the preschool level to the university.
Maszlee also said countries such as Germany, Australia and Japan, which were mentioned by Dr Mahathir, will be looked at as examples to develop the curriculum.
Recently, Maszlee said he would be focusing on transforming the schooling culture rather than implementing some novel education system only for it to be abandoned later.
Maszlee told The Malaysian Insight that he intended to turn national schools and universities as the main choice for Malaysian parents.
“Instead of new policies I want to create a culture of love, happiness and mutual recognition in our education system. If I bring in any new policies it will not be radical,” Mazlee said. – June 7, 2018.
