TWO secondary school boys suspected of being involved in the murder of 18-year-old T. Nhaveen have been remanded for four days on charges of extortion and rioting.
The duo, aged 16 and 17, will also be investigated on charges of murder, along with three other 18-year-old suspects who will be brought to court tomorrow to be remanded, said lawyer Baljit Singh, who is speaking on behalf of Nhaveen’s family.
“I was told the other three will be brought to court to be remanded for the murder probe tomorrow,” he told reporters at the Penang Court Complex today.
It was reported that the five suspects had severely beaten Nhaveen late Friday night. By the time Nhaveen was sent to the Penang Hospital early Saturday morning, he was already unconscious.
He was in a coma until he died at the Penang Hospital yesterday evening.
Lawyer V. Parthipan is representing four of the suspects.
The mother and sister of one of the suspects, who is still schooling, said they did not know anything about what happened.
The sister said they were shocked that her younger brother was suspected of being involved in the incident.
“This happened after he suddenly got a call from a friend.
“We were having a meal at home that night. Then he got a call. He just got up and left the house, without saying where he was going,” his mother said when approached at the court building.
Another lawyer E. Gnasegaran is representing the remaining suspect. – June 16, 2017.
