TWO teenagers involved in an assault case which left a student in a coma have been remanded for one more day, but for a separate case involving rioting.
Counsel V. Parthipan said the latest investigation had nothing to do with the boy in coma.
“This case was from last month and classified as NFA (no further action), from what I understand,” he told reporters.
The duo from Bukit Gelugor, aged 16 and 17, had been in police custody since the weekend.
Late last Friday night, the 18-year-old victim in the assault case and his friend T. Previin, 19, were attacked near a burger stall in Island Glades.
The incident happened after two older boys started to tease the victim, whom they used to bully in school.
Previin escaped but his friend was allegedly taken to a nearby field in the old Kampung Buah Pala and further assaulted by his former schoolmates and several other boys who were called up to join them.
By the time the victim was sent to the hospital, he was already unconscious. Doctors later found injuries in his anus and genitals.
Yesterday, police said they have not found the object used to injure the victim’s private parts.
The family of the comatose victim continues to pray for his recovery. β June 15, 2017.
