A DOCTOR claimed trial today for trying to deceive the Road Transport Department (RTD) by issuing a fake health certificate to a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence applicant.
Dr Teaw Sock Boey, 55, was charged at the Butterworth Sessions Court under Section 415 of the Penal Code which is read together with Section 28(1)(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
If convicted, she faces five years in jail or fine or both.
She is the sixth doctor to be charged with committing such an offence. Five were taken to court late last month with similar charges. All claimed trial.
Dr Teaw was charged with committing the offence at Poliklinik Teo in Jalan Tembikai, Bukit Mertajam, at 11.30am on Feb 14 to help one Mohd Firdaues Azizan get the PSV licence.
She allegedly tried to deceive the RTD into believing she had run a physical exam on the applicant.
She was represented by counsel Hazizah Kassim. MACC deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Ghazali Muhamad Nadzri prosecuted.
Judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz fixed July 18 for case management. – June 15, 2017.
