THE 19-year-old boy who last week escaped with bruises and a broken bone a vicious assault that left his friend in a coma, has been moved to a safer location within Penang Hospital.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said T. Previin was moved today at the request of his family and Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy.

Ramasamy, who visited Previin yesterday, was told that the family was worried about the boy’s safety.

Ramasamy afterwards wrote to the hospital director asking for security to be heightened to ensure Previin’s safety while he was warded.

Ramkarpal thanked the hospital for obliging with the request.

“The teen is not only a crucial witness in the case; his family is also worried about his safety,” he told reporters at the hospital after a candlelight vigil.

Earlier today, Previin’s uncle MGR Devan told reporters that the boy had been receiving suspicious calls from strangers offering to help.

The calls had made the boy uneasy as he did not know who those calling were.

Tonight, about 200 people gathered for a vigil to pray for Previin’s  speedy recovery.

Previin is undergoing an operation tomorrow to fix a broken bone under his eye. He suffered injuries after he was attacked by a group of boys wielding helmets late Friday night last week in Island Glades.

The crowd also prayed for his friend, an 18-year-old is a coma. – June 14, 2017.
