THE Sabah government will focus on governing and leave the authorities to pursue former chief minister Musa Aman over alleged past crimes, Shafie Apdal said.
“I will leave it to the authorities. The government has other important work to do than tracking down individuals. We are not involved in any probe that may have been launched by them on Musa,” Shafie, the chief minister said after chairing the state cabinet meeting today.
“If the authorities need any help from the government in terms of information or documents, we will give our help.”
Musa, the state Barisan Nasional chief, is now missing although it is believed he is still in Malaysia based on Immigration Department records.
Musa had rushed to be sworn in as Sabah chief minister the day after the May 9 general election, but Parti Warisan Sabah president Shafie subsequently got the support of more assemblymen after BN reps defected.
Shafie said the state was in control of security should BN supporters attempt to retaliate.
“The authorities will look into it before anything untoward happens,” he said.
The recent chief minister saga in Sabah resurrected fears of a repeat of riots in 1986 following a constitutional crisis over the chief minister’s appointment after state elections the year before.
Police are now looking for Musa to record his statement over his alleged intimidation of Sabah head of state Juhar Mahirrudin over his swearing in. – May 28, 2018.
