UMNO division chief Jamal Yunos accused the newly elected Pakatan Harapan government of abusing the police force to arrest him.
“I’m not afraid of the provocation from PH. Using PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) to arrest me is a rude and immature action.
“The people know who is true and who is DAP’s puppet,” the Sungai Besar Umno division chief wrote in a Facebook post.
Jamal disappeared from a hospital on Friday after he was charged with three offences. The police could not reach him and immigration was put on alert.
“For your information, Jamal Yunos will not run. I just need to find peace within myself.
“I’m with tabligh pilgrims now for a few days during this Ramadan month. Please send my regards to the people of Malaysia.”
Jamal’s lawyer and Umno assemblyman Imran Tamrin had previously denied that Jamal had gone into hiding, claiming there was “miscommunication”.
Jamal faces three charges, two for trespassing and one for being a public nuisance, when he smashed beer bottles in front of the Selangor state secretariat in Shah Alam in October last year.
If convicted, he faces a maximum of three years’ jail and a RM5,000 fine for trespassing, and a maximum fine of RM400 for being a public nuisance. – May 27, 2018.
