ONE of the nine Barisan Nasional assemblymen who were absent from Azlan Man’s swearing-in on Thursday attended a briefing with the Perlis menteri besar today, reported Bernama.

Kayang rep Hamizan Hassan was at the menteri besar’s official residence in Kangar to attend a briefing on the Umno general assembly, and the official opening of Kangar Umno’s wing and branch meetings.

He told reporters that he attended the briefing in his capacity as Kangar Umno Youth head, as well as to fulfil his responsibility as an elected representative.

“The menteri besar and I are in the same division. The meeting today discussed matters relating to Umno’s activities in the division.”

Asked whether his attendance is a show of support for Azlan holding the menteri besar’s post, Hamizan only said, “I obey what Tuanku has said”, referring to Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.

The nine BN assemblymen who did not attend Azlan’s swearing-in have said his appointment as menteri besar did not get majority support from the coalition’s reps.

The nine were with Perlis BN and Umno chief Shahidan Kassim in Kuala Lumpur. Shahidan, in a press conference, announced Azlan’s sacking from Umno. – May 26, 2018.
