EMBATTLED Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Musa Aman, who is sought by the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), is believed to have left Malaysia, The Star reported.
The paper spoke to former associates and aides of the former Sabah chief minister, who were unable to shed light on his current whereabouts.
He is wanted by the police to have his statement taken over alleged criminal intimidation against Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin.
Some, however, believed that he had left for Brunei or Singapore en route to London.
MACC sources also told the newspaper that Musa had gone overseas way before they applied for him to be barred from exiting the country.
“Sabah police could only say that Musa was not in the state.
“It is learnt that anti-graft officers had gone to two houses in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan belonging to Musa to conduct a search. However, both properties were unoccupied at that time,” the report said.
The searches at Musa’s houses were also hampered by his lawyer’s refusal to cooperate, sources said.
MACC is investigating the alleged buying over of Sabah assemblymen after the 14th general election.
Musa claimed the chief minister post on May 10 after securing a simple majority a day after the May polls. However, this lasted barely 48 hours after six BN assemblymen defected to Warisan.
On May 12, Warisan president Shafie Apdal was sworn in as the chief minister and the state governor revoked Musa’s appointment the next day. – May 26, 2018.
