Jamal Yunos on the run?

The Malaysian Insight

CONTROVERSIAL Umno leader Jamal Yunos has disappeared from a hospital in Ampang, Selangor, where he had been held since Tuesday, before his bail proceedings were completed after he was charged today.

Police believe the Sungai Besar Umno division chief and Red Shirts leader had escaped.

Jamal was discovered missing when Shah Alam assistant court registrar Rahasbiah Abdul Rahman went to the hospital at 5.30pm to complete bail procedures.

His disappearance was confirmed by Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Fadzil Ahmad.

“Jamal has been slapped with three charges at the Hospital Ampang Puteri today.

“We will contact him again to complete the documentation for bail,” Fadzil said in a statement tonight.

An Ampang Jaya police spokesman said they had arrested a man at this hospital, believed to be Jamal’s lawyer.

Malaysia Decides has been attempting to contact Jamal and his aides since the evening but to no avail.

On Tuesday, Jamal was arrested by police over an investigation under the Arms Act for displaying his pistol to the public. He was held at the hospital as he was undergoing treatment for his back.

Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor said there are two other arrest warrants out for Jamal, which will be served to him after he has completed his treatment.

Jamal was today charged with causing a public nuisance when he smashed bottles of beer outside the Selangor state secretariat in a protest gimmick against then menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Jamal pleaded not guilty to the charges. – May 25, 2018.
