Cooperate with police, Warisan man tells Musa

The Malaysian Insight

WARISAN’s vice-president Junz Wong has urged Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Musa Aman to cooperate with authorities, saying he has nothing to fear if he had not broken any laws.

Police are looking for Musa to have his statement taken over alleged criminal intimidation against Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin.

Musa has denied the allegation through a statement issued by his lawyer Zahir Shah yesterday.

“The statement by Musa’s lawyer (Zahir Shah) is self-serving and biased.

“It is for the court to decide and clear him of any charges. Neither Musa nor Zahir has the authority to claim innocence,” he said in a statement tonight.

Wong, who is also the Sabah agriculture and food industries minister, said the governor would not have lodged the police report against Musa if there were no elements of intimidation during Musa’s swearing in as chief minister on May 10.

He also said Zahir should have allowed authorities to carry out their duties instead of issuing statements on behalf of Musa to mislead the people of Sabah.

Musa claimed the chief minister post on May 10 after securing a simple majority a day after the 14th general election.

However, this lasted barely 48 hours after six BN assemblymen defected to Warisan.

On May 12, Warisan president Shafie Apdal was sworn in as the chief minister and palace officials revoked Musa’s appointment the next day. – May 25, 2018.
