THE police will be extending the contract of Amar Singh Ishar, the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director, due to his role in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) investigations.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun confirmed the extension and said Amar was due to retire next month, Bernama reported.
Touching on the 1MDB investigation, Fuzi said no police reports have been made regarding Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Shukri Abdull’s statement that his safety was threatened when probing the scandal in 2015.
“We are aware of his (Shukri) statement that his security was threatened when investigating 1MDB,” he said.
Fuzi also said the police will leave it to the MACC to investigate former Tabung Haji chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
On Wednesday, MACC seized some RM500,000 in cash from Abdul Azeez’s residence. He claimed the money was humanitarian work, including for a mission to Gaza, Palestine. – May 25, 2018.
