MALAYSIA is resolved to seek justice for the victims of flight MH17, shot down on July 14, 2014.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry today said it remained resolute in the pursuit to prosecute those responsible, following the release of the Joint Investigation Team’s latest report yesterday.

“Malaysia has consistently called for and supported a fully transparent, independent and exhaustive investigation process.

“Therefore, it reiterates the JIT’s call for the public to come forward to assist in the investigation process and to provide additional supporting evidence against the people directly involved in order for justice to prevail. 5.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families and the loved ones of the passengers and crew of flight MH17. We owe it to them to do everything possible to bring closure to this tragic incident,” the statement read.

JIT yesterday said for the first time that the missile which brought down the plane over eastern Ukraine originated from a Russian military brigade.

The Joint Investigation Team “has come to the conclusion that the BUK-TELAR that shot down MH17 came from 53rd Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade based in Kursk in Russia,” top Dutch investigator Wilbert Paulissen said.

Moscow has rejected the accusation, saying no such weapon had ever crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border and that it was an attempt to “discredit Russia in the eyes of the international community”. – May 26, 2018
