Work more, talk less, says Perlis MB on first day in office

UNFAZED by the Perlis leadership crisis, Menteri Besar Azlan Man kicked off his first day in office by dismissing the political drama that has gripped the tiny state in the days following the general election.

Azlan arrived at his office in Kangar at 10:10am, where he was greeted by the press. Conspiciously missing from the welcoming committee were nine Umno and Barisan Nasional assemblymen challenging his appointment.

“Time to start working, no more drama,” Azlan was quoted as saying by Bernama.

“There are administrative matters to attend to. Work more, talk less,”

Yesterday, the 60-year-old Bintong assemblyman was sworn in as menteri besar before Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail at Istana Arau, in Arau.

The ceremony proceeded without nine BN assemblymen, who were instead gathered atl Kuala Lumpur as a sign of protest against Azlan’s  appointment.

Barely three hours after Azlan was sworn in, Umno Perlis chief Shahidan Kassim announced Azlan was fired from the party.

BN won 10 of Perlis’ 15 state seats, PKR won three and PAS won two seats in the general election. – May 25, 2018.
