150 designer handbags seized from Najib's daughter, say cops

A TOTAL of 150 designer handbags were among the items seized from Nooryana Najwa Najib in the two-day search conducted in the three units of Pavillion Residences, police said.

“I can confirm that 150 handbags were seized from a unit where Najib’s daughter is staying. We also seized a few other items from the unit. I can also confirm that the second unit is where Najib’s son is staying and the other is an unoccupied unit that belongs to a Tan Sri,” Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh Ishar Singh said in a press conference today.

The 150 bags were not part of the 284 boxes of handbags that the police seized on May 18.

The former prime minister has become the subject of police investigations since Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya.

The Barisan Nasional coalition led by Najib was defeated by PH led by the 92-year-old Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The PH government has vowed to look into the 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case and bring whoever is responsible for the alleged wrongdoings related to the state investment arm to book.

Dr Mahathir had accused Najib of being involved in the widespread multi-billion dollar financial scandal. Najib, however, has denied any wrongdoing.

Besides the police, the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission is also probing Najib in connection with SRC International and the large outflow of money that ended up in Najib’s two bank accounts.

SRC International was a unit formerly under 1MDB before being removed and put directly under the Ministry of Finance. – May 25, 2018
