AMAR Singh has a piece of advice for Umno members claiming the millions of ringgit seized in a deluxe condominium belonged to the party: wait for the investigation to be completed.
Meanwhile, the money is safe in the vaults of Bank Negara while the jewellery and other valuables seized are stored in several locations under tight security, including a safe in Bukit Aman which can only be opened by two keys.
“The safe cannot be opened with just one key and two persons are tasked to keep the keys and one of them is me.
“As for the money, they are kept in the central bank,” said Amar
The Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director said this at a press conference on the results of police raids on condominiums linked to former prime minister Najib Razak.
Earlier today Inspector-General of Police Mohd Fuzi Harun advised Umno to follow procedure if it wished to claim the money.
“We have to follow the rule of law. The investigation is still ongoing,” said Fuzi after handing over Hari Raya cookies for the state contingents in Bukit Aman, today.
Umno is seeking to recover the money that it claims are party funds.
Amar today said the cash seized totalled RM114 million. The money was in 26 foreign currencies in 35 bags that were seized. Thirty-seven more bags that were impounded contained jewellery and other valuables that were yet to be valued. – May 25, 2018.
