Musa denies intimidating Sabah governor

MUSA Aman has denied that he had intimidated Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin to have him sworn in as chief minister after the 14th general election.

His lawyer Zahir Shah today said in a statement that Musa regretted dragging Juhar into a suit to determine if he or Parti Warisan Sabah president Shafie Apdal is the rightful chief minister.

“Musa denies all allegations against him of criminal intimidation against the governor or any other persons… Musa added that at the end of the day, the rule of law must prevail and the Sabah constitutional provisions must be respected and followed,” he said.

Earlier today, Sabah Police commissioner Ramli Din said the police are searching for Musa to have his statement recorded over a police report lodged by Juhar against him for alleged criminal intimidation the night Musa was sworn in on May 10.

Ramli said the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and said nine witnesses have had their statement recorded so far.

He said Musa is presently not in Sabah.

Musa was sworn in as chief minister on May 10 after Sabah Star joined Sabah Barisan Nasional to enable it to have a simple majority in the state assembly, edging over Warisan’s 29 seats.

But in less than 48 hours, several BN assemblymen defected to Warisan, giving the Warisan-Pakatan Harapan pact a majority of 35-35.

Shafie was sworn in as chief minister two days later on May 12. – May 24, 2018.
