LIM Guan Eng has no problems with Arul Kanda Kandasamy’s plan to sue him for calling the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) president “utterly dishonest and untrustworthy”.
The finance minister said if Arul Kanda wanted to sue then he will be waiting for his legal letter.
“Of course I don’t know if he will do that, but he is free to do so.
“He must bear in mind he is an employee of 1MDB, and he is now the only employee of 1MDB and 1MDB is wholly owned by the Finance Ministry,” he said at a press conference at the ministry today.
Lim said he will take this issue “step by step” and will inform the media on any progress.
Arul Kanda today denied Lim’s statements uttered at a press conference at the Finance Ministry yesterday, calling them potentially defamatory and personal.
He said it was unfair of Lim to make public statements that did not fully and accurately represent the way the questions were put forward to him and how they were answered.
“The circumstances I was in and the context of my answers were conveniently left out, such that it produces a false impression and puts me in a bad light.
“Therefore, in my personal capacity and not in relation to my employment, and specifically only in relation to his statement, I have sought legal advice from my lawyers on my options. – May 24, 2018.
