A GROUP linked to Umno wants the authorities to investigate Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad for corruption.
Jaringan Melayu Malaysia called on MACC to investigate 12 cases accusing Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of abuse of power.
The group said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had to be fair, as it was also investigating former prime minister Najib Razak.
“If Dr Mahathir and Mohd Shukri Abdull can investigate other people, then they can investigate the 12 cases we are handing in today and prove to us that they are really fair,” JMM president Awanddin Hamzah said outside the MACC headquarters.
Close to 50 supporters from JMM were gathered outside the MACC headquarters.
Officers on duty allowed only Awanddin and a few other members to enter the premises and hand over their memorandum.
Awanddin said that they were not there to defend Najib.
“We are not here to defend Najib. If he is corrupt, MACC must investigate him fairly too. We only ask that MACC be fair in its investigation,β Awanddin said.
Kerajaan Malaysia Baru coordinator Lokman Noor Adam said that the reports sent to MACC were made previously by several leaders.
“The reports we sent were made previously by Anwar Ibrahim, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Lim Guan Eng against Dr Mahathir.
“We want MACC to investigate the reports they lodged,” he said. β May 24, 2018.
