THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is keen to interview two important figures that can help them to shed light into the SRC International probe involving the flow of hundreds of millions of ringgit into former prime minister Najib Razak’s personal bank accounts.
Sources in the know confirmed that the investigating team is still trying to locate Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and Suboh Mohd Yassin, the two key figures who have been missing since 2015.
“Bring him to us if you find him,” MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull had told reporters on Monday.
Nik Faisal Ariff and Suboh were supposed to give statements over various transactions linked to the private banking account supposedly belonging to Najib.
They, however, went missing without a trace, as rumours abound that they have fled the country to either Indonesia or New Zealand.
The duo are required to assist in providing information on the transfer of funds within SRC International Sdn Bhd, which was a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) but was later absorbed by the Finance Ministry.
Suboh and Nik Faizal are shareholders of Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, one of the two companies used as a conduit to transfer money from SRC to a private bank account in AmBank.
Nik Faisal is also said to be a close associate of businessman Low Taek Jho, who is a key figure in the 1MDB scandal involving the embezzlement of billions of dollars.
According to media reports, Nik Faisal was the “link man” between UBG, 1MDB and PetroSaudi for channelling US$260 million (RM1.03 billion) of 1MDB money into the purchase of UBG in a transaction involving Low and then-Sarawak chief minister Abdul Taib Mahmud in 2010.
He was then transferred to become CEO of 1MDB’s new subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Nik Faizal later became UBG Bhd’s executive director of investments and chief investment officer (CIO) after Low bought substantial shares and became a board member of the bank. – May 24, 2018.
