BILLIONAIRE and Council of Eminent Persons member Robert Kuok met Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya this evening.
Pictures of the meeting of two nonagenarians – Kuok is the older at 94 – were posted on Dr Mahathir’s Facebook page.
In about half an hour, the post had received more than 20,000 reactions and 2,100 shares.
The Hong Kong-based Malaysian tycoon is back in Malaysia this week. Yesterday, he attended his first meeting with the other members of the advisory council, where the agenda was fuel subsidies, at Menara Ilham.
Speaking to the media later, he told Malaysians to have trust in the council made up of “very fine Malaysians”.
The council, set up by the Pakatan Harapan government led by Dr Mahathir, is tasked with advising the administration in policy-making, delivery of its election manifesto and its business dealings.
The council is chaired by former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.
Other members of the group are former Bank Negara governor Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Petroliam Nasional Bhd president and chief executive officer Hassan Merican, and economist Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram. – May 23, 2018.
