THE Finance Ministry will take over the offices of 1Malaysia Development Bhd, said Lim Guan Eng.
“We have instructed ministry officials to take possession of the buildings, as shareholders and the general council have agreed (to it), and (they) will hand over the keys to us,” said the finance minister after a meeting with 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy today.
Lim said it is hoped that all the documents in the 1MDB offices “are in place”.
“The board of directors said they will furnish the ministry with all the documents, including letters issued by the former finance minister (Najib Razak).”
He added that all of 1MDB’s assets were originally the ministry’s.
“The Finance Ministry shifted the assets to 1MDB at a low price, and then, they transferred the assets back to the ministry.
“This is a game to cover the eyes of Malaysians to the funds that were stolen by them.
“The federal government will have to pay another RM954 million in interest this year.
“This is ridiculous because the money can be used for the people. Many stand to benefit.” – May 23, 2018.
