NAZRI Abdul Aziz is the latest former minister to say that Shukri Abdull did not meet him over the 1MDB investigation and the RM2.6 billion allegedly in Najib Razak’s personal account.
The former culture, tourism, and arts minister said the newly minted MACC chief may have met other ministers at the time.
“Shukri never met me. Maybe other ministers. I was only the tourism minister and not the home minister,” he told Malaysia Decides today.
His comments follow former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein’s denials yesterday about meeting Shukri.
Yesterday, Shukri said that he and former MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed had met some ministers to convince them to take action against Najib, when their investigations found that RM2.6 billion and RM42 million were believed to have been transferred from SRC International Sdn Bhd into the then prime minister’s personal account.
Shukri said only three ministers dared to speak on the matter, namely former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, former rural and regional development minister Mohd Shafie Apdal, and former second finance minister Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah.
Malaysia Decides has contacted several other ministers, but there has been no reply from them to date. – May 23, 2018.
